So... there's two girls named Nicole Anderson in my ward. It's quite confusing for everyone, including me sometimes. A few weeks ago I walk into sacrament meeting and see the other Nicole sitting up on the stand. I thought "Hmmm. That's weird because she just talked a few months ago. Maybe she got a new calling and is talking about that." I go sit down for the meeting.
You know that feeling you get when you know that people have been talking about you? I had that feeling the whole first of the meeting. Brother Mayer got up to introduce the program and admitted his mistake. He mixed us up and I was supposed to be speaking. It was funny because the topic was 'People who just went through the temple and their experiences there'. I went through the temple in May, the other Nicole went through YEARS ago.
It was the only time I was ever singled out and publicly embarrassed in a church meeting with over 100 other people there. Looking back, it wasn't as bad as it seemed then. One thing could not be doubted- I was BRIGHT red!
The worst thing is that now I am on the radar and it's only a matter of time before I am asked to speak. Public speaking doesn't bother me, but I hate it when I am assigned a hard topic. My experiences with going to the temple- easy talk! Now I'm probably going to have to speak on quantum physics or something. Argh.
This might be one of those 'you had to be there' stories. But I just wanted to say that it was the funniest thing that has happened to me in a while!
Anyway, thanks Nicole for giving my talk for me!
